The October 26th FruitShare will be delivered as usual with the veggies. As you said there is one in November and two in December. The dates and day of the week for these has not yet been determined. The November and December FruitShares will be available at the farm or at Rebecca’s house.

So for the fruit share we get one next week on the 26th and then once in Nov and 2 times in December and the Nov/Dec dates are not known at this time right? Also want to be sure these last 4 I can pickup at Rebeccas on Wednesdays right?

Wow! I initially thought that the large round “veggie” I received in this week’s share was a watermelon. On my way home from the pick up, I realized it couldn’t be as it was a fruit; it must be a squash. I have been searching all over for a squash like that and how to cook it – checked this site after the fact and discovered it is a watermelon. Great! I love watermelon and will be immediately slicing and serving…

Hi Chris,

I would define a CSA farm briefly as a small local farm from which you can purchase a share for the season and accordingly receive a portion of the produce. We joined to support a small local farm, and obtain a variety of locally grown, pesticide-and-chemical-fertilizer-free, picked ripe and fresh, produce. (Also in part because obtaining said produce would help force us to do the right thing food-choice-wise.) My expectations have been surpassed: Not only is the produce fresh, healthy and amazing-tasting, but by picking up at the farm we’ve been able to feel connected to the people who work so hard to make the magic happen; also I didn’t anticipate the invitations to help with farm activities like garlic and potato planting, or the excellent educational and entertaining newsletters.

Of course once I send out the newsletter things change. The Cheese for this week’s CheeseShare will include Medium Cheddar, Venetian Cheddar and Blue Cheese. Due to inventory issues we had to swap out the cream cheese for blue.
