I love those Green Zebras! Don't nobody take them so there are a lot left for me! Unless my DH comes to pick up, then he'll take the hybrids, 'cause he's scared of the heirlooms. I'll do my best to educate him before Friday.

I make the fresh version in my food processor and add garlic (4-5 cloves or 2-3 garlic scapes). I also add lime juice from half a lime, or lemon juice, if I have it available. Yummy!!!

For some reason, this history reminds me of the first year we had our chemical-free pool in the backyard...

I was surprised that we weren't supposed to drain the water when we closed it up for the winter.

I said to the builder (poolguy) "So we're just going to keep using all of that old water?" And his reply was "It's ALL old water!"

There was a debate going on whether the crumbly layer of sandstone was "soil" or "bedrock". To protect drinking water supplies, when putting in a septic system you have to stay three feet away from bedrock. So defining what the layer of crumbly rock is was important. If it is soil then you can put a septic system less than three feet from it. If it is bedrock then you have to have at least three feet of soil between it and the septic system. I don't know if they decided whether it was soil or bedrock but the consensus was to keep three feet away since there were no microbes in the layer to digest the waste from the septic system.

Nice! I'm a big kohlrabi fan. Too bad no one else in my family is. However, they scarf up the snap peas!

I don't know yet when FruitShare will start. It will be either the 23rd or the 30th. I'll let you know as soon as I know. Whenever it starts there will be a total of 9 weeks of fruit.

If your normal pick-up day is Monday you would come Monday June 21st. The season will end on a Monday in october so you will have the same number of weeks of produce.
