First Farm Event of 2010!

Come one, come all to the annual Fresh Earth Farms Potato Planting Party.  This year the party is startin’ early, early in the season that is.  Typically we don’t plant potatoes until the last week or so of April.  This year we are moving it up a week earlier to Sunday April 18th.  We’d move it up even earlier but have too many other conflicts on the prior weekends.

Here are the details:

Date: Sunday April 18th
Time: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm or until we are tired or done
What to bring: Clothes that can get dirty.  Mud boots if you have them.  Sunscreen if sunny. Water bottles for keeping hydrated.  Gloves if you spend money on manicures.  Kids, since potatoes are big and easy to plant and kids are closer to the ground.

Please let me know if you plan to participate (I used to say RSVP but that doesn’t seem to have any effect) and how many will be in your party.  Seating is limited (actually there is no seating so it is quite limited).

Any questions?  Hope to see you here!

Mmmm, potatoes. We ate some very good roasted potatoes with rosemary while in Italy over spring break. And, after last season’s farm harvest of potatoes, we didn’t have to buy potatoes until mid-February. Maybe we don’t eat potatoes as fast as others might, but overall, they kept very well over the winter.

Roasted potatoes with rosemary is one of my favorites. If you are looking for rosemary plants we have them for sale. See “Herb Six-Packs” for more details. Remeber that rosemary doesn’t overwinter in MN so be sure to plant it in a pot to bring inside in the fall.
